An hydraulic press is used to compress the PTFE powder in a cylindrical mold. The powder is compressed to about 30% of its original volume.
The important factors in this process are the compression speed, the maximum pressure and the holding time of this pressure, as well as the adequate relaxation phase. These parameters are controlled by a PLC and are recorded for each individual block by means of a data logger.
